As a supernatural safe haven where paranormal beings lived together in the open, normal meant expecting the unexpected

Before everything fell apart, Ruby Foster had been enjoying a completely normal day. Then again, normal was relative in Tempest, Texas. As a supernatural safe haven where paranormal beings lived together in the open, normal meant expecting the unexpected. But she didn’t think anyone could have imagined a rogue, lunch-hour robbery at the local diner.

Attacking a room full of supernaturals should have been a death sentence but somehow the thieves managed to incapacitate them all and steal more than just the money in the till. They got away with wallets, watches and even jewels. More importantly though, they took the priceless relic that the heir to the Moonlight Pack wore as a symbol of his power and authority, right off his finger.

Now, Ruby must use her years of true crime knowledge and shifter senses to solve the mystery behind the robbery. Unfortunately, her obnoxious, overconfident boss, insists on joining her in the investigation to find his stolen ring and unmask the culprits behind the heist. They’ll have to work together to track down the thieves, unravel the truth behind the rumors and put their own troublesome past behind them for the sake of their pack.

Can they recover the stolen ring, catch the criminals and restore peace to their pack before it’s too late? Find out in this cozy paranormal mystery filled with witty banter, a touch of romance and enough suspense to keep you guessing until the final page.
Note: This book does not contain on page swearing, adult sexual situations or gore.

Are any of your characters based on real people you know?

I wouldn’t say that the characters are entirely based on real people but they certainly have traits of people I know. For instance, I have a lot in common with Mallory (the MC from Book one) because we both left our small towns and then came back years later and we are both eldest daughters with younger sisters. Plus her best friend Ruby (the MC of this book) is very similar to my own best friend. She’s very edgy, loves a good leather jacket and could definitely cut you if you got too close haha.

Which scene, character or plotline changed the most from first draft to published book?

I don’t want to give too much away but when I started writing this book I thought Ryker had a very important role to play (and he still does in this book) but his story changed along the way and I realized the powerful, gang leader with the charming smile and beautiful but deadly eyes wouldn’t actually be getting more page time in future books after all… but that just opened up the door for Finn to become a more mysterious character instead.

Which of the side characters would you love to explore more, or turn into a main character in another series?

What’s so fun about this series is that I knew early on I didn’t want there to only be one sleuth like most cozy mysteries so every one of the books in this series will feature a different female main character from the core group of friends forming Bad Omen Investigations and that means every side character you love will eventually get a chance to solve a mystery all their own! Plus every main character is also a side character in the other books so you really get to feel like you’re part of the group!

Despite what her google search history might suggest, Tessa Bryant is an author, not a serial killer. She enjoys true crime content in all its many forms and came to writing her own fictional version after years of publishing in the romance genre. Tessa loves books, black cats and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She’s combined these interests by creating the supernatural world of Tempest, Texas, a small town with more secrets than Marge Simpson’s hair could ever hold. She hopes you fall in love with her magical, murderous, cozy mysteries so she can quit her day job but in the meantime, she’ll be writing and researching late into the night and hoping a handsome werewolf or vampire shows up on her doorstep to claim she’s his long-awaited mate.
