Check out the 2024 Indie Fantasy Book of the Year Finals!

Behind the Writing of Dreamteller

Which scene, character or plotline changed the most from first draft to published book?

My main villain changed from first draft to final copy. Originally, Athaliah was my main baddie and the showdown was between Shannyn and the Queen. However, upon revision I realized the more intimate betrayal lay elsewhere.

Which of the side characters would you love to explore more, or turn into a main character in another series?

I’m currently sketching a sequel set in the same world. Although it will have overlapping characters, my main lead will feature Asher as an adult.

What do you hope readers will take away from this story?

I hope readers will be inspired to step into their own stories with more conviction, clarity, and determination. Life can be hard, and I know during my darkest moments, I often looked to characters I’d read in fiction to exemplify courage and endurance.

Lady Shannyn was raised to rule.

But when a vision of the past uproots a buried betrayal, her secured future unravels.

Spies whisper in the halls, assassins lurk in the shadows, and secrets fester behind silk-draped smiles, but rebellion isn’t the only danger in Megara.

A masked archer, a man cloaked in mystery, might be the only one who can help Shannyn uncover the truth—if she dares trust him.

Every step closer to the truth brings new enemies and every choice demands a sacrifice. Shannyn finds herself stepping into a prophecy that could save her kingdom—or destroy it.
