While many books you read having you living the world through description via the characters, Summernight takes vivid descriptions a step further. The detailed way that Marielle experiences the world gave me a deeper connection to this story.

Marielle & Tamerlan lives intertwine with the hope and fear of their fates, and it’s an amazing ride. The question of who will succeed and who will die flows through out the entire novel, leaving me on the edge of my seat until the very end.

The legends that the people of the city celebrate(or fear) are well thought out and portrayed perfectly through the eyes of the characters. They each have their own voice/characteristics/theme, and it is apparent that everyone in the city believes (or doesn’t believe) as it suits their lives. I was def. skeptical throughout the whole story of what was fact, and what was myth turned religion/tradition.
